DMV job requirement- must have sh*t for brains

Over a month ago, we received a notice in the mail (forwarded from our old address in CA) to renew my vehicle registration. I returned the notice along with a letter stating that we moved out of state and now the car is registered in Washington. So then a couple of weeks go by, and I get another notice (again forwarded from our old address), stating if I didn't provide proof of registration by the end of the month I would be facing legal action. So I called the DMV office and when I finally got through to the cheerful, customer service oriented DMV employee (yes, sarcasm) I explained that I had been relocated out of California and now live in the state of Washington and had sent a letter weeks ago informing the DMV of this move. She spouted off a list of more asinine steps that needed to be completed, so I asked her, "What's going to happen to me if I don't do these things?" She told me in her ever sweet demeanor that my car would be impounded. I told her that I'll take my chances. Then she barked, "It is AGAINST THE LAW to not have registration in the state of CA." I asked her what part of moving out of state does she and the DMV not understand!?!? I felt like I was talking to a styrofoam peanut so I hung up and a day or so later sent all the crap they wanted: proof of registration as well as insurance, along with our contact information and address and what did I just get in the mail???

ANOTHER vehicle registration notice from the state of California!!!

The best part about this is that the notice is addressed to our house here in Seattle. You'd think that would have tipped off SOMEONE over there, since the last time I checked, it is not mandatory to register your vehicle in the state of California if you live in the state of Washington.

Instead of going back and forth on this issue again, I think I'll just mail back a fecal sample and see what happens.

And attach a note that says "Instant brains, just add water."

Wait a minute. I've been registering my cars in CA all these years...for nothing? ;)

HWHL: I LOVE your idea. Something tells me you've dealt with the DMV on more than one occasion.

8741: Depends on the color car you have. If it's Gray or Black it must also be jointly registered since you live in a state that starts with an "I". So it may not have been for nothing. ;) (you crack me up!)

Off topic and maybe none of my business, but what happened about the house in West Seattle? If you told, I missed it. You did say this morning that it was a debacle, so I guess that means it didn't happen???

Now you could listen to that song "The Bluest Skies You've Ever Seen Are in Seattle." I looked for it on iTunes, but couldn't find it. I probably have the title wrong. Cherish these lovely days--we natives do!

Should everyone in WA register their cars in CA, or is it just you?

You know, the DMV employees are only allowed so many complaints and they get fired! It's surprising that more people don't complain, I think we are all set in thinking that it's just how it is with them...but oh no my friend, not anymore!!!

You are so silly! Seriously you make me laugh out loud (lol to the young folk) all the time. It's a wonder I haven't gotten fired for reading blogs during work.

TOLW1GA7C, W. Seattle house: I haven't blogged about it, but I should because it's really getting ridiculous. The bank owns it, it's been over 2 months and we've heard NOTHING from them and we are locked in until the 26th. But, there have been some issues with that house which makes me very uncomfortable. I'll update when I have a giant glass of wine so I can spew it all out on here. Perhaps later tonight!

You know what Bon Don, I've already drafted a letter in my head to the higher ups at the DMV but I kept thinking, does it even matter to them!?! But I should probably send it. I don't remember if I have the lady's full name though. Drats!

McNattums: You're so cute but don't get fired!!!
