ABSOLUTELY one of my favorites!! Last year, I took my babies to see a play that dramatized a bunch of classic children's stories, with this being the main story. The did it in "acts" with each phase of the boy's life being an act, that they performed between the other books. It was so much fun!
This was absolutely NOT one of my favorite books. Creeped me out then, creeps me out now. What do you like about it? The poor tree gets completely hacked to death.
I should have expanded on this post. While this was one of my favs as a kid, now when I read it, I think it has the potential to send the wrong message. And I don't just mean an environmental "save the trees" type message. But I didn't recognize that as a 6 year old. Or maybe I did and that's why I'm so selfish today! haha.
