Keepin' the Economy A'Float

Here are 2 great products, both USA made, that I wanted to share. I may have already posted about this mascara once before, but it's worth another post if so. Several months ago I used the Eyelash Conditioner stuff before I learned that it could potentially cause blindness. Obviously I stopped using it and found that Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara definitely increases lash length and thickness. I love this stuff and it only costs $6.99! It lasts about 2 months and you really want to replace it after that time anyway due to bacteria build up. Actually I think they say to replace mascara after 30 days but that seems too frequent. Either way, this stuff is great.

I found this line of hair care products at Target called Organix. I just bought a bottle of the Shea Butter shampoo because that is all I need for now and I'm trying to weed out my products and only purchase something new once I run out. So far it's working. This line has so many yummy scents that it was hard to choose just one. I was debating on the Pomegranete Green Tea and Coconut Milk but then ultimately decided they smelled too food like so I settled on the Shea Butter. The smell reminds me of how your skin smells after spending all day at the beach lathered in suntan lotion. Actually now that I think of it I really should go back and get a Conditioner. I want that scent to linger and since the conditioner is the final step in the hair cleansing process that's the scent that stays with you. The good thing about this stuff is that there are mail in rebates on certain bottles so though you pay $6.99 right now, you can send away for a full refund via mail so essentially this stuff is free! Yep, I'm going back for Conditioner.

Why is everything I buy $6.99???

HOLY CRAP I JUST BOUGHT THAT SHAMPOO but in coconut and i bout the conditioner and there was a rebate to get it free and when lori (the CEO of my life) starts freaking out about her wedding (on saturday) we open this little container of the shampoo that i squirted out and we sniff it and pretend we are in jamaica. AND i was just looking at that mascara because i left my chanel intimidable in boston and i used that with my dior show for the best mascara combo ever but this new mascara looks fab and 6.99 beats 60 combined any day. i am buying that tomorrow. i hope your girls night is going well and that you dont think that i am a stalker. xo

Too funny! So have you tried the Coconut conditioner yet? Does it smell good? I hope the Shea Butter scent lingers. I've used Chanel mascara before and I can tell you that this cheapy stuff for $6.99 can stand up to the $30+ tubes. Not kidding. Try it and report back!

Girl's night starts in about a half hour. I'm getting ready to pour the wine!

I'll buy both of those. I got suckered into some imported Japanese mascara that cost $24 and is supposed to thicken and lengthen your lashes thanks to "revolutionary fibers". Well, those stupid revolutionary fibers have a way of falling off and getting under my contacts.

So, your suggestion on mascara is very timely.

Have fun with your sister tonight! I am now logging off the computer for the evening due to my husband's SCOWLING... (clearly, he needs some LUV...) Later.

So not to rain on everybody's parade here, but my sister has just done some pretty extensive research on the chemicals they put in beauty products and we're both switching to purely organic products.

Covergirl mascaras score a "High Hazard" rating. I didn't see the Organix product in their database.

You can check out all your cosmetics at http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/

And if you really do the research, my guess is you'll switch too. I found out my L'oreal shampoo had the following warnings, and I stopped cold turkey.

- Cancer
- Developmental/reproductive toxicity
- Violations, Restrictions & Warnings
- Allergies/immunotoxicity
- Other concerns for ingredients used in this product:
Neurotoxicity, Endocrine disruption, Persistence and bioaccumulation, Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), Miscellaneous, Multiple, additive exposure sources, Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs), Enhanced skin absorption, Contamination concerns, Biochemical or cellular level changes

And think about it, this was just my shampoo.
