Beauty Buys for the Weekend

Haven't posted any must have products for a while so here are a few of my favs for springtime...

The Shear Splendor line from Philosophy is splendid (I love the word splendid, need to use it more often). I got this stuff about a year ago and recently resurrected it from the depths of my cabinet under the sink (aka bottomless pit of beauty remnants).

The two products I recommend for dry, over processed hair (whether it's chemical or styling tool damage) are the Marinating Oil and the Conditioning Mask.

I use the products together about once a week and if my hair is extremely moisture deprived I'll apply the marinade overnight and wash it out in the morning using a moisturizing shampoo, then apply the conditioning mask. You'll really notice a difference even after one application.

And since this is all pre-styling maintenance, you can continue your usual hair care regimen once you towel dry. Or in my case, turbie twist dry. (The woman's hair in that pic drives me nuts! Why wouldn't they turbie twist that hanging lock back up in there? Annoying).

Here's a great bronzer from Benefit. The color goes on smooth and can be layered to achieve a deeper tan. The packaging, though super cute, is not the most practical since it's a non secure lid and somewhat bulky. But if you can do without carrying it in your purse, it's probably the best bronzer I've come across in a long time. And the color name is "Hoola" which makes me want to do a dance right now.

And if you're looking for something to spruce up the house for Spring, Trader Joe's has bunches of Daffodils for only $1.29! I couldn't pass them up. I bought a bunch today and wanted to buy those with closed buds so they could bloom over the weekend. Soon after I put them in water, they all began opening their petals to welcome the world. I need to watch this next time I buy flowers. I think it would be spiritual or at the very least, splendid!

Happy Spring!

I ADORE daffodils! Whenever I see them, they put a smile on my face. I'm going to check and see if Jewel has any yet. A pretty vase of those on my table would be the perfect way to kick off my spring break. Oh, yeah, by the way, I'm not coming on my spring break (which officially starts in 45 minutes!!!) to visit. I know I suck, and I'm sorry....

Chitown! That sucks that you're not going to be able to come out. You should have emailed me or told me! :-(

Maybe another time?....

I hope my two Cali Girls still love me. I know, I'm a big ass, but it's been really hard to make any kind of long-term plans because I've been trying to help out my brother with this whole bar adventure. I'm going to try really hard to get my ass out there in the very near future, really and truly!

Trader Joe's is so amazing. I buy plants/flowers there every week. They're so cute and so cheap!

I love the Hoola. I love all the Benefit stuff. The Dr. Feelgood is special. The Bad Gal eyeliner is good times, too. Their products' names are too precious. I got the hint of sun, or kiss of sun by Bare Minerals this weekend. I'm trying it out today. I've been a Hoola bronzer user only for the last year, but the Bare Minerals stuff looked sparkly, and I can't resist spending at least $100 everytime I'm in Sephora.

I'll have to try that Philosophy stuff! I have some serious hair dryness issues. I've been using Kerastase, which I love, but I like switching it up.

I've tried Bare Minerals and really liked it at first and then thought it went on a little too cakey. I LOVE Jane Iredale minerals (plus they come in a compact not loose powder so it's not as messy) and I also like Laura Mercier's mineral line. I think Bare Minerals is better for younger skin (30 and under) because it seemed to settle into fine lines and accentuate them (in my case anyway).

And one of the reason I LOVE Benefit's line is because of the adorable names for the products. "too-faced" and "bad gal" are my favorites!

Oh and I'm thinking about trying the Restorative smoothing serum by Philosophy's Shear Splendor line but it's $18 for a measly 2 ounces so that's not really a bargain. But I am curious to see how it works. I also want to try their Tangerine scented gelee for Spring. YAY FOR FUN PRODUCTS!!!
