Audio momism

I just figured out a way to download audio to my mobile phone, upload it to my online album, attach it via email, then download it onto my laptop and finally upload to blogger. And it only took 57 minutes!!! I really should have kept that flippin' i-phone Tom got me.

Anyway, I thought I would share a typical voice mail message from my mother. As you're listening, imagine "Wwaa Wwwwaaaa" sounds in the background. Remind you of someone??? And since it was just an audio message I video taped a photograph of my mother while playing her message but since it was via my cell phone, the quality is really bad. Again...should have kept that fricking i-phone!

So here it is. See if you can pick out the Momisms. I counted 2.

(oh and if you couldn't tell, my mom's nickname for me is "Bum" which really never bothered me before but after spending 6 months in Seattle, I think it's time for a new one.)

OHMYGOSH! We have the same mother! My mom will sometimes leave 2 minute, even 3 minute messages for us! (All with very useful and "important information".) :)

One time she left us a message while waiting in the drive-thru line at Burger King, then she covered the phone, PLACED HER ORDER, then continued to leave her message. It was hysterical (I think we saved it.... we were laughing so hard.)

Those wacky midwestern Moms.

I am SO SO impressed that you can do such things on your computer. My poor old computer had to be replaced yesterday with this new shiny laptop. I'm old and this will be good for my old brain connections. Where is the mouse--how can I click on the right side when I just have this space to move my finger around on?? Your mom is adorable and I can empathize with her. I often think of calling my daughter about these things, then I tell myself that she is thirty years old. BTW, how is Chum doing? TOFLW1GA7C

Jane: No those weren't the ones I got!! Listen to it again, she says them in the beginning of the message. It may be hard to hear one of them though...

Try again!!!

And yes, I am OVER 30 but yet continue to receive daily high alert messages from my mother. Some things will never change! I should scan all the crap she sends me in the mail too.

I can't hear them. Something about pistachio nuts tells me that's a momism, but I can't quite make out what it is.

First she says, "there is a call on nuts" not recall (which is what it was), just a "call."

Then she says the story will be on "MNMBC" which is really MSNBC. The sound on our home phone is much clearer, it's kind of hard to hear it as well on this recording.

I should go through saved messages and see if I have any more good ones!

Ha. I heard nuts and I just figured it out, and I thought I heard MSNBC. Greatness. My mom didn't know what a growth spurt was when I was talking to her the other day. But then we're Ukrainian, so I can't make too much fun of her. After all, English isn't her first language. :)

My Mom will also call us anytime there is a tornado watch (which happens ALL the time in the Spring here) just to make sure we are "aware, and have our escape route into the basement ready")

:)
