.........................................Chopping Onions!

This is one cooking chore that I usually DESPISE but I find this towel-mask-sunglass concoction works really well to ward off onion tears. (Towel is secured behind the head using a claw clip.) The dog freaked out when he saw me and his non stop barking almost made me chop off a finger. If any of you decide to try this remedy just make sure you remove the towel in case someone happens to ring your doorbell. This is not a popular look by today's standards.

Wow, I'm not the only one. I often wear swimming goggles when chopping onions.

I actually think goggles would be better. The sunglasses work well but I think the goggles would create a seal to the skin so absolutely no onion tainted air can waft through to the eye area. Next time I'll try that. Thanks for the info!

You guys they actually do have goggles for cutting onions. I saw them at Sur la Table and yes Laura I was going to buy you a pair but was waiting for a special occasion.. till then!

Use my handy dandy TRICK. Take your tongue and cover your front upper teeth area and you should be fine.....you can even breath... in fact I would recommend breathing.... don't pass out!

I have tried that and it works for about 45 seconds and then my eyes start burning like hell. I am interested in these onion goggles. Perhaps a trip to Sur La Tab is in order??? Then the knit store?
