I can hear again!

This morning I had my ears checked. Did an auditory test first which showed slight hearing loss in my right ear (on high pitched tones). Then another doctor did the ear exam and extracted a giant globule that was attached to my ear drum. There were actually 2 globules but one got sucked down the vacuum hose, the other, did not. I won't go into much detail but let's just say something this size (and color) should never come out of one's ear. One's ass? Yes, but not an ear canal.

So after coming close to passing out in the doctor's office, (after seeing said object and also feeling dizzy from the suction/vibration on my ear drum) I am feeling 10 times better and my head feels lighter.

However, my sinuses and eustachian tubes are still clogged and the ENT thinks I have allergies. Makes sense because I have been a stuffed mess since December and Tom who used to suffer allergies in S. Cal is completely drip free. Yet another reason it makes living here OH SO pleasant! But I am now taking Flonaise for probably ever and hope that helps.

Been making trips back and forth still (old house to new) and once we have everything in one set place I hope to feel more settled. All I can say is I WILL NEVER EVER MOVE AGAIN (unless of course it's back to CA or perhaps even Chicago. I'm missing that place now too.)

Hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying bursts of Spring!

What? No pics of the globs? Im disapointed. Glad to hear that you can hear better. LOL! How are your pets adjusting to the new digs?

SO glad you got that thing outta there. David had that happen to him once (in Palm Desert, on his birthday, no less). At least it wasn't an ear infection! YAY! I hope you feel better each day. XO

I'm with Anon....where's the pic? (heheheh) :-)

Seriously though, I'm so glad it's better!

Should have saved it and shaped it into a candle. LOL. Kidding

I'm so glad you're feeling better. I think the glob was the decomposed remains of the panty liner wrapper that you guys used to play hide-and-seek with. I guess that means Tom won, huh? ;-)
My heart skipped a little beat when I read " or perhaps even Chicago. I'm missing that place now too."

Here in our Health "Food" Store that carries lots of other neat stuff, they have these rolled up type candles that you have someone put in your ears while you lie on your side, and they light it. The heat creates a natural vacuum that actually pulls the wax, etc out of the ear canal and it stays in the folds of the candle. It's great, but it's nasty ... just another idea for healthy ears. Thank You to the Native Americans for this holistic approach.

Words of advice with the Flonase, rinse your mouth afterwards to clear out the back of your throat...no one told me this, I thought I had a freaking STD and instead it was thrush. TMI?

I may blog about this traumatic event sometime.

And I was thinking the glob could replace the panty liner and be a game of "where's the glob?" instead.

I rarely never post (and don't know you), but I am so happy something finally is getting better and you can hear! You only have a couple more weeks until the weather is amazing there, so hang on - all will improve soon!

Also, Flonase ROCKS. Seriously, it's the best thing I have ever taken. Your sinuses will feel better in 48 hours max.

I de-lurked and left a comment on an earlier post but I just wanted to tell you I suffer from horrible allergies in Seattle as well. You might also try Zyrtec. I swear it's changed my life!

hey l-
sorry to hear about the allergies, but i developed nasty allergies plus asthma upon moving to portland...so, i can see how this could cause your issues. and, yuck on the crap in your ear. i have flonase and don't use it now...must have acclimated, though each spring allergies flare up. anyway, hope you're okay now and the move is going smoothly.

Thanks everybody! I feel soooo much better, what a difference that made.

Laurie, Tom and I actually attempted ear coning years ago, right after we were married and he caught my hair on fire! Needless to say, we will never be doing that again.

And so far I'm loving the Flonase, does it make you feel light headed right after? I haven't tried Zyrtec yet, just been doing Sudafed/Benadryl. Even after 2 days I think I'm already noticing a big improvement with Flonase alone so yeah that stuff is amazing.

It's sunny today so I'm taking a break from packing/unpacking (we STILL have crap at old house!) and taking Wrigs for a jog along the water. We've neglected walks for the last week with this move and it's time we get back on track. =)

When I was a kid I had this same thing happen. My doc pulled out a big thing that looked like a raisin. It was ICKY.

Hope it takes care of the issue.

MISS reading your blog every day, my friend! Hope the new house is lovely! :)
