need to vent...

So we FINALLY moved every last piece of crap from our old place into the new house as of last Friday, May 1st (our lease ended April 30th @ midnight). Did I mention Tom decides to have a Cinco de Mayo party AT OUR HOUSE which is TOMORROW!? I'm just a tad bit frustrated right now and I told him that this house will still be in shambles but I will do my best to get the living areas looking nice for the party. He of course wants shit put away, off the floor, unpacked, even if it's just jammed into closets/cabinets. I told him not a problem at all, I'll have everything put away, cleaned, and ready for the guests, just move the party to July fucking 4th.

Ok, I take that back...I'm not just a tad bit frustrated, I'm completely PISSED OFF.

And my left wrist is not working today. After 3 weeks of lugging shit to and fro it finally gave out. It feels like it's going to snap off even when I hold a q-tip to clean my ear.

Ok, time to get back to shoving shit into closets and jamming things into drawers.

I would be celebrating Cinco de Mayo a tad early while I'm shoving shit into spaces.

Oh, man, I can totally understand.

I think you should shove him into a drawer or closet somewhere and go party without him!!

:-)

Shove all the stuff in his car. Then see if he will throw a party at a bad time again.

You might never have guests come again, but here's something you could try: Assign the guests a room or closet to organize for you! Demand that they inventory the items. Some people really get off on those things--take advantage. Tell them you researched Cinco de Mayo and that this is an old tradition for that holiday. By the time they discover the ruse, the unpacking will be complete! It's worth a try??

You are pissed righfully so.

You know they don't even celebrate Cinco de May in Mexico except in American bars, I just learned that today.

this is a rare opportunity for you... just having moved is the perfect excuse for having a less than perfect house. as opposed to being stressed out, just let the clutter be, and HAVE FUN!!

THAT'S what Q-tips are for?

Good to know.

Is your blog audience invited to Cinco De Mayo? I'll bring the virtual guacamole!

Welcome to West Seattle neighbor! And I agree with the suggestion for making into an upacking party. I did that with my family and it worked out great!

Have you survived your party? Did your wrist snap off? Did you have a nervous breakdown from moving (which is stressful enough as it is!!!!!!) and hosting a party!?!?

Thanks for all the advice, especially loved the Cinco de Mayo unpacking tradition comment! Cracked me up. The party was a lot of fun, we had 17 ppl in our home. Still have stuff jammed in closets and rooms and will get to that most of today because tomorrow my mother in law visits for 4 days. I swear the fun just never stops. :)
