In need of some warmth

So I just booked my ticket home.

I won't make a habit of this, I hope. But, it's really fricking cold and my body is shutting down. I'm making my grandmother's homemade chicken soup recipe for dinner tonight. Hopefully that will warm me up a bit.

The tips of my fingers are a bluish purple. That's not right.

I love your blog and I visit often. But, is it really THAT cold?!?!?!?! Have you visited your friend Karen yet? Does she live close by?

When I start to complain about things that are not going well in my life, I think of Karen and all she is going through with the loss of her daughter. Now THAT is something that makes me realize my complaints are trivial.

Hi Saucigirl-

To me, anything below 65 seems cold, but it was in the 40's earlier today and our house does not seem to warm up so I was chilled all day. I wear my coat, scarf and hat in the house (unless I'm cooking cuz it gets in the way - or taking a shower). The temp inside hovers between 61-65 degrees and that's with the heat on! I don't think it's insulated very well. I grew up in Chicago and even lived in Minneapolis for a year so I remember what BITTER cold feels like but since I've been out of it for a while I think my body temperature must have changed.

I hope to see Karen soon, she's just a ferry ride away and I REALLY look forward to spending time with her. She's someone I often think about and try to draw strength from and has been so incredibly warm and welcoming. She is truly a gift from above.

I don't mean to sound like a whiny pus with my challenges with this move but it helps to vent on here rather than to Tom. Trivial or not these are the feelings I'm feeling and I'm hoping that as I get used to a new life here and make new friends and find a job that I enjoy, the weather won't be such a factor for me.

Until then, I've got to get one of those sun boxes!

When you going back to Cali? I totally relate to HATING the cold. It was 80 yesterday (freak of nature in October) and then a cold front came through today and the high was 60. Ugh! We'll both be getting lightboxes before the winter's over.

I hear ya. Vent away.

Sending you warm and toasty thoughts.
