Today, I've decided...

...I'm going to drastically lower my expectations of people, that way I won't be so disappointed when they turn out to be:

a) inconsiderate
b) self serving
c) manipulative
d) insincere

I will put forth my energies to those who are deserving of what I have to offer.

Thank you Bette, my 89 year old soul sister for your friendship and providing me with a world's worth of wisdom in the last 7 months.

I feel ya! I try to see the good in every one.. but everyone seems to not care as much as I do! Maybe we are the only sane ones out there... lowering my expectations hasn't really worked out for me yet, I feel like I pretend to and still get disappointed!

Bette is GORGEOUS! I hope I can age that gracefully!

I think the older I get the less time and energy I want to put into making certain relationships work. I agree... focus on those who want to meet you in the middle and who are deserving of your time and energy.

Dead on: "everyone seems to not care as much as I do" that is why I just can't care so much anymore towards those who don't. It's wasted efforts and I'd rather care twice as much for those who appreciate it. Know that you're not alone Jagged, even if we really are the only ones out there. :O)

OMG Anne, I'll have to get some photos of her when she was younger too. She is STUNNING! Totally with you on wanting to focus on those relationships that are deserving of time, energy and effort! I think age (and ppl like Bette) have helped me realize this is what it's all about.

I get this resolution.
So glad that Bette is doing well, and what a sweet friend you are, to support her art show.
Thank you for the sweet comment. Sending love to you and Tom and your furbabies! xoxoxoxo

I love ladies like Bette. Elderly, graceful, smart, wise and just plain beautiful; it all shines out of her. I aspire to be so when Im her age.
Lucky you for finding her. :-)

When I get to feeling about people being self-serving and the rest, I kind of wonder how many things I said or did were either really that way, or perciecved thus. Some times things are such that what pleases one must necessarily offend another. But not often, really. I have been lucky enough to have met with great helpfulness in the oddest places (and in the most unexpected places - when I was in jail in Saudi, for instance). You are right to celebrate people like Bette. I would only drop those are CONSISTENTLY disappointing.
