Sunshine day

I spent the day in Laguna and it was perfect. 75 degrees and not a cloud to be found. I feel refreshed, alive and warm! I took a bunch of pics but of course forgot to bring my camera to computer converter cord thingy so I'll have to upload when I get back to Seattle.

Here is a pic I took with my cell phone from my favorite cafe:

There is an extremely embarrassing story that happened while at the cafe but I just can't bring myself to post it. Rebecca was the lucky recipient of hearing said story via text message and if anything ever happens to me, I grant her permission to share it on here. Until then, it will be a while before I return to that place.

Then I headed over to the Montage where I sat in the lobby next to a roaring fire, watching the afternoon sun slowly make its way down the horizon.

I stepped outside on the deck to take in the views and 2 women were out there sipping cocktails, chatting. One said in a huff "It's too bright out here, let's get back inside." Are you kidding me woman!? I wanted to punch her in what looked to be a newly constructed nose. Stupid sun hater.

I've got more to update but need to get ready to meet friends for taco tuesday. Can't beat $2 tacos!

Hope you're all enjoying some sunshine today!!!

Sunny day 2

UPDATE:

Stupid shit for brains head up his ass weatherman lied this morning. There was not a SPECK of sun to be found today. It wasn't nearly as dark as it had been the other days but still, NO sun whatsoever. I take back all my hallelujahs from this morning and replace them with a shaking fist to the sky! Sons of bitches!!!!

---------------------------------------

Tom and I just watched the weather report and it's supposed to be partly sunny/no rain all thru the weekend! We both broke out into song:

"Haaaaaa-llelujah!! Haaaaaa-llelujah!!"

"Hallelujah! Hallelujah!"

"Halleeeeeeluuuuujah."

Wrigs turned his head to look at us mid song, and had that WTF? expression written all over his face. Soon he'll be rejoicing right along with us when we go for our 10.2 mile walk. Have to make up for lost time.

Did anyone see the story about the balloon ride crash in Yuma, Arizona? Scary indeed and thankfully no one was injured, but our crash 5 years ago was WAAAAAY worse. If we caught it on film we so would have made it on the Today Show.

They also showed the giant Christmas tree hauled in on a flat bed to Rockefeller Center. The tree was 80 years old and it was so sad to see it lying dead on the truck. I really think the city should construct an artificial one. If one can make a giant penis I'm sure it can be done.

My day in Seattle...

Was surprisingly pleasant for a change. Just when I hit the bottom of my vortex of doom, a flicker of light shines at the tunnel's end. That light? The sun.

Our friend Darin is a pilot and had a lay over in Seattle for the day. We met at Pikes and had lunch at Serious Pie (know why it's called Serious Pie? because it is SERIOUSLY the best pizza on earth!) Then, we explored the city. All I can say is, this place looks and feels 100,000,000 times better in the sunshine.

Here's some video of a piano player on Pike Street and the incredible sky. It ended up clouding over at about 2, BUT it was nothing like the last 14 days. There was still a lot of brightness to the sky and the contrast was pretty amazing. I even got to see shadows again! The guy in the orange sweater and cap is Darin.

That dying mongoose you hear in the background is a violin player and I use the term "player" loosely. More like violin mutilator. I highly recommend that you remove all sharp objects from reach before listening to this next clip.

And some photos - click to enlarge.

Crazy balloon man (aka my future BFF, he just doesn't know it yet)

Check out the lovers in the bottom right of this pic. I wanted to yell "GET A ROOM!" but somehow controlled the urge to do so.

Some more amazing sky pics...

While walking over to Nordstrom we almost got kicked in the face by some nutjob doing cartwheels on the sidewalk. Best part about this, nutjob was wearing a business suit! I bet that's what Tom does to blow off steam during the day. Seems like an effective stress reliever. Next time I see him I may have to join in on the fun. Synhronized cartwheeling has definite Olympic potential. Just you watch.

A Letter to the Sun

Dear Sun,

We need to talk.

It seems like we don't see each other as much as we used to and I'd like to go back to the way we used to be. Is that possible? Are you willing to be more present in our relationship? I can't be the only one reaching out. You must make more of an effort to come out and see me. I'm always ready, willing and waiting, day after day, but...

you're never there.

We used to see each other over 320 days a year and now, all of the sudden you just disappear?? Why? It's not fair.

I'm not sure what happened yesterday. It seemed like you were making an effort, but then, as soon as I ran home to change my clothes and grab your glasses you went away. Why must you tease me so? Even at 4.5 billion years old, you still act immature at times.

I know back in California there may have been some days where I took you for granted. But it was only a few weekend mornings here and there in a midst of a hangover. Sometimes your bright rays would beam me in the eyes and on occasion, I may have even shouted at you and for that I do apologize. Please don't hold that over my head now. Or wait, please do. I don't know, either way, will you please just hang over my head???

I miss your warmth, I miss your beauty, I miss your energy. I miss you.

And it's not just me. The undersigned would like to see you again too and each wrote a personal message:

1) Tom - "Uh hello??? GOLF???"
2) Wrigley - "Mommy says my wet fur stinks and that hurts my feelings."
3) Chumley - "I could give a rat's ass if I ever see you again."
4) Our convertibles - "It's only a matter of time before we're up on craigslist."
5) The plant - "Help."

We used to have a lot of fun together, Sun. I'll never forget all the good times and I just want some more. I don't think that's too much to ask. You know where I live, so please, stop by and see me.

Oh, one last thing. I wasn't going to tell you this, but you leave me no choice. In your absence I have to resort to this. I don't mean to make you jealous because NO ONE can take your place. It's just that I'm starting to go a little cRaZy.

Until then...

A little song for you

Love,

Your #1 Worshipper

Tom and I went for a boat ride...

In extremely cold weather.

Here is the Space Needle in the distance...

Here we are. We were cold. VERY cold...

I tried to warm us up with a few kisses...

But Tom opted for beer instead...

The sun is shining (2 days in a ROW!!!) but I'm just waiting for it to warm up a bit before I walk into town. 40 degree temps are a bit too cold for a stroll in the park. At least soon I'll have a fancy new homemade Karyn original, so I won't have to wear that beaver hat with the ear flaps all the time. Tom's not a fan of it. Especially when I sleep in it.

We have arrived...

And I must say, Seattle is awesome.

I LOVE living in a city environment again. I certainly have missed that. We have walked EVERYWHERE in the last 2 days. Found an amazing Crepe place just up the street, several coffee shops (shocker) and some fun pubs and nighttime spots. There's so much to see and do and I do love that.

But I miss the people I want to be doing it with.

And I really do miss the sun.

I saw it for about 15 minutes today.

Then, clouds.

And then more rain. And a few tears.

It's an adjustment I know. I can't compare it to where we've been. But when the sun is out, I'm happy and I feel great and I think No Big DEAL! I could live here forever!! Then, when it goes away...

I become a royal bitch.

I'm sorry Tom. I snapped at you quite a bit today. It's not your fault, I don't mean to take it out on you. I know I need to work on this and I will get help I promise. Just PLEASE don't take it personally.

My sister arrives tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to that. I think she'll love it here, she says she loves clouds and fall like weather. I wish I could say the same.

But I'll learn to get by on those 15 minutes of sun.

Come out sun, come out today.
Come and let me see your rays.
I miss you so! I miss you much!
Please sun, won't you stay in touch!?!?!

That is my daily sun chant. Let's hope it works.
